Timber Harvesting
Little Levels Lumber Company can provide turnkey timber sales to maximize your profits while meeting forest management objectives. We can identify and mark trees for harvest – working with the latest timber prices. Our crew can then harvest those trees, and broker the logs to log buyers across the region – securing the best prices for the landowner. Timber prices can be volatile, so having multiple outlets for selling logs ensures that landowner returns are more stable. Timber harvesting fees are paid when the logs sell, so there is often zero upfront costs to the landowner, but typically higher returns than lump sum timber sales. Complimentary consultations are available.
Timber Sale Administration
Our professional staff will help identify and select trees for harvest, prepare bid prospectus for timber operators, bid out the job, and award contracts a to top bidder that meet all the qualifications. We then follow-up with the contractors to ensure that contract specifications are being met. From start to finish, Little Levels Lumber offers a professional and stress-free way for you to contract your trees for harvest. The contractor will pay you for your timber, and Little Levels Lumber will take a small percentage for administering the sale.
Program Administration
There are a number of government programs – such as the NRCS Golden Winged Warbler habitat program – that compensate landowners for certain land management practices. Little Levels Lumber can help you navigate those programs and fulfill the program requirements.
Forest Management Plans
A forest management plan provides a flexible road map to reach desired objectives – whether those be for maximizing profits, creating wildlife habitat, or managing for specific tree species. They help ensure your forest is thriving and healthy. Depending on the property tax classification for your property, certain forest management practices can reduce annual tax liability, such as the WV Managed Timberland Program. We can help you prepare a plan to submit to take advantage of those programs.
There are many ways you can maximize your investment in your forests.
